A history of tradition since 1964

Lombard tradition comes to life in the exclusive setting of the Vicolo dei Lavandai. A timeless glimpse of old Milan.
El Brellin
The location
El Brellin overlooks the Naviglio Grande and the picturesque Vicolo dei Lavandai, where washerwomen once arrived with their buckets and, kneeling on the wooden “brellin,” rubbed their customers’ cloths on the “stone brelle.”

the ancient places
Next to the washhouse stood the old grocery store where washerwomen once stocked up on hot water, brushes and soap. The premises of the old grocery store, run by Maria Bambina until the 1950s, now house “El Brellin” Restaurant and Cafe, which have kept the atmosphere of the place intact.

The rooms
In the pleasant atmosphere of the rooms arranged on two floors, in a 1700s house with fireplaces and coffered ceilings, El Brellin can accommodate up to 200 people, catering to both candlelit dinners and splendid wedding refreshments, corporate dinners and private receptions. When the weather allows it, lunch is served in the garden, otherwise it is served at Café d’El Brellin and in the Sale dell’Oca on the ground floor of the restaurant.
